This third book is a seamless continuation of a fun sci-fi series featuring a clever Special Forces operator and her Ghost Platoon as they travel to different hot-spots around the galaxy.If you enjoyed the first two books in the series (or anything else by this author) then you'll be glad to spend a few more hours with Jolie the Fox as she continues to get herself and her squad into and out of trouble.There's nothing new here - as I mentioned in a review for one of the earlier books, this is a series of ground battles against various enemies on several different planets. No space battles, no ship-to-ship combat, just infantry pounding ground like they've done for millennia.There's not much character development ... in fact, pretty much every character remains pretty static throughout this book, but since the author hints at the end that the series will continue we can hope for some future progression.My main (minor) gripe about the overall series continues, however - the simplistic way the futuristic military is portrayed.For example, there are numerous references throughout the book about modern weapons - and by that, I mean OUR weapons, not what a Special Warfare Operator would be using centuries into the future. AR-series assault rifles, Mossberg shotguns, 9mm Glocks and Heckler & Koch firearms.Go back 200 years from right now. Mr. Remington founded his firearms manufacturing company around then making flintlock rifles. While Remington is still a going concern, no one other than hobbyists are buying and using flintlock guns ... So why would a soldier in combat against heavily armed and armored aliens hundreds of years in the future still be using something as primitive as a Mossberg shotgun or a Glock pistol?If there's one thing humanity excels at advancing, it's weapons technology. I suppose Glock or Ruger may still exist as a brand centuries in the future, but soldiers would not be firing a simple 9mm any more than one of our Navy Seals would be carrying one of Remington's early flintlocks into combat.That said, I look forward to whatever Mr. Daems come up with next. His ability to tell an enjoyable tale easily trumps any minor quibbles.If you're looking for something similar, check out the Hayden War series by Evan Currie, the Galaxy Unknown series by Thomas DePrima, Perilous Waif by E. William Brown and the Valor series by Tanya Huff. I have enjoyed every minute of reading this book, as I have enjoyed reading this entire series. This book was hard to put down,it was captivating and engaging,and I did not want it to end. So far I have enjoyed every book this author has written. I hope that there is a Tasmanian EGG book 4 in the works. This was the first book I have ever preordered and I was counting down the days until it arrived. Give this author a try,but do yourself a favor and start with book #1. I hope you enjoy this book half as much as I did.Happy reading 📚😁.
